Marcus de Bye is best known for his etchings of animals, made after designs by Paulus Potter and Markus Gerard. He was born in The Hague in 1638 or 1639 and painted some landscapes with animals in the style of his teacher, Jacob van der Does. His prints include sets of cows, sheep and goats after Potter. He also etched a set on the natural history of the bear after Gerard. The sources don't agree on when he died, so we can't give a firm date.
