After a stroke in December 1911, Lovis Corinth was partly paralysed on his left side, yet within a year he was painting again with his right hand. His style loosened after that and took on many expressionistic qualities. He had studied painting in Königsberg, Munich and Paris. In 1900 he moved to Berlin, where he later followed Max Liebermann as president of the Berlin Secession. Many of his later landscapes are set at the Walchensee, a lake in the Bavarian Alps where he owned a house. Browse 167 works by Lovis Corinth from 58 museums, free to download in HD.
