In 1500 Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen bought his first house in Amsterdam, on the Kalverstraat.
He was one of the first important artists working in the city, and about 200 woodcuts and 27 paintings by him are known. His name points to Oostzaan, northwest of Amsterdam, and his whole family were painters. His early work follows the Haarlem painter Geertgen tot Sint Jans, and his later work looks to Albrecht Dürer. He died in Amsterdam on 18 October 1533, but little else is known about his life. Browse 138 works by Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen from 20 museums, free to download in HD. Source: Wikipedia
