Jan Collaert II spent his working life in Antwerp, making engravings for the print publisher Philip Galle. He trained with his brother Adriaen and with the engravers Galle and Gerard de Jode. He joined the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke in 1585 and later served as its dean. Like many engravers of the time, he often worked from other artists' drawings, among them those of Maerten de Vos. His twenty prints of Biblical women were made for a Latin book by Cornelis van Kiel, published in Antwerp in 1591. Browse 251 works by Hans Collaert from 5 museums, free to download in HD.
