Giuseppe Maria Mitelli

Giuseppe Maria Mitelli spent more than 60 years working in Bologna, and he's best known for his engravings. He was the son of the painter Agostino Mitelli and studied or worked under Guercino and Simone Cantarini, among others. In 1660 he published The Arts of the Street, a series about the tradesmen who worked in the streets of Bologna. Around the same time he made a tarot deck of 62 cards for Count Prospero Bentivoglio and put his own face on the Ace of Coins. He also drew dwarfs, satires and odd cartoons that could read as subversive. Browse 144 works by Giuseppe Maria Mitelli from 7 museums, free to download in HD. Source: Wikipedia
