All of Giulio Bonasone's paintings are lost, and he is better known as an engraver. He was born in Bologna and worked mainly in Mantua, Rome and Venice. He made etchings and engravings after the old masters and from his own designs, and 357 prints are attributed to him. His Creation of Eve follows Michelangelo's fresco closely, down to the awkward right leg of Adam. His first dated print that mixes etching and engraving is the Resurrection of 1561.
