Giovanni Battista Falda
230 works
As a boy, Giovanni Battista Falda was sent to Rome to work in Bernini's studio, where his drawing caught the eye of the publisher Giovanni Giacomo de Rossi.
He engraved the city's buildings, both new and ancient, and made plates for books on Rome's fountains and palaces. His prints sold well to the first Grand Tour travellers, who wanted an accurate record of the places they had seen. He was born in Valduggia in 1643. He died in Rome in 1678.
