Giovanni Battista de' Cavalieri

Giovanni Battista de' Cavalieri made nearly 380 plates, and many are copies after the great Italian masters. He etched each plate and then finished it with the graver, in a style close to Enea Vico's. He worked after Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, and in 1579 he made thirty-three plates of the ruins of Rome after Dossio. He was born at Villa Lagarina in 1526. He died in Rome in 1597.
