Gaspar Bouttats

Most of Gaspar Bouttats's work was made for booksellers, and his plates are mainly etched. Born in Antwerp into a family of engravers, he was trained by his father, Frederick Bouttats the Elder. He often worked from drawings by the marine and topographical artist Jan Peeters, including a volume of views of Jerusalem. In 1674 he engraved a book of views of cities and forts in the Dutch Republic, the Southern Netherlands and along the Rhine. He later became dean of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke and died in Antwerp in 1695 or the year after. Browse 137 works by Gaspar Bouttats from 2 museums, free to download in HD. Source: Wikipedia
