Edwin Austin Abbey's drawings were appearing in Harper's Weekly before he turned twenty. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to England in 1878 to gather material for illustrations of Robert Herrick's poems, and he stayed there for good. He's best known for drawings and paintings of Shakespearean and Victorian subjects. He also painted the official picture of Edward VII's coronation, which now hangs at Buckingham Palace. His Holy Grail murals for the Boston Central Library took him eleven years in his English studio, and he died in London in 1911.
