Edward Burne-Jones went to Exeter College, Oxford to study theology and meant to become a church minister.
There he met William Morris, and under Rossetti's influence both decided to become artists instead. He left before taking a degree and later designed stained glass, tiles and mosaics for Morris's firm. His recognition came in 1877, when he showed eight oil paintings at the new Grosvenor Gallery. His window designs can still be found in churches across the UK, with examples in the US and Australia. Browse 183 works by Edward Burne-Jones from 32 museums, free to download in HD.
