In 1857 Daubigny bought a boat and fitted it out as a floating studio. As captain of the Botin, he painted along the Seine and the Oise, often around Auvers. Born in Paris into a family of painters, he spent years illustrating books and magazines. His painting changed after he settled in Barbizon in 1843 to work outside in nature. Claude Monet later made his own studio boat, and Van Gogh painted Daubigny's garden at Auvers three times. Browse 334 works by Charles-François Daubigny from 49 museums, free to download in HD.
