Landscape with Three Figures and Birds
mid-late 17th century
Albert Flamen made his prints in Paris, where he worked mostly as an illustrator for books. He's best known for etchings of French landscapes and for studies of sea fish, freshwater fish and birds. Most of his work came out in small oblong books, usually of 12 prints each. Few details of his life are certain, and the Netherlands Institute for Art History places his birth around 1620 in Bruges. His known activity is documented only in France, where he also painted a few portraits and made designs for the Gobelins Manufactory.
