The Halt during the Chase by Jean-Antoine Watteau, dated 1717, shows a group of elegantly dressed figures resting in a wooded clearing during a hunt. Hunting dogs and saddled horses gather around the reclining company, while a rider in a yellow gown sits on a grey horse at right and small figures wander toward a distant open vista. The painting is held in the Wallace Collection.
