About this work
A white peacock with a raised crest stands on a dark, rocky outcrop against a soft, misty ground of brown and orange washes. The bird's pale plumage is rendered in layered, translucent strokes that contrast with the deep grey-blue of the rocks. This watercolor, titled White peacock, is by Abanindranath Tagore and dates to 1915, held by the Victoria Memorial.
