About this work
This painting shows a snow-covered Moscow townscape with a stone arched bridge in the left foreground, massive brick towers with pointed spires, and gilded onion domes rising above the walls. In the right foreground, wooden log houses, market stalls and a group of figures in heavy winter coats move through the snow. The work is by Apollinary Vasnetsov, dated 1901, and is held by the Yaroslavl Art Museum.
