About this work

Ecce Homo by Francesco Solimena, dated 1675, shows a half-length figure of Christ wearing a crown of thorns, his upper body bare and a red cloth draped over his shoulder and arm. He gazes upward with a sorrowful expression while holding a reed staff, and a second figure in pale clothing and shadow appears behind him against a dark ground. The painting is held by the National Museum in Warsaw.
