About this work

An 18th-century painting shows a young boy in a cream satin suit with a blue sash, seated on a black horse mounted on a wheeled wooden frame, while an attendant in red velvet and gold trim holds the lead. The gilded, neoclassical interior with a relief panel and an open doorway with figures behind it is depicted in detail. This is Carl Frederik von Breda's painting Gustav IV Adolf, 1778-1837, kung av Sverige, dated 1784, held by the Nationalmuseum.
