About this work
A group of women in dark and white garments rests on a sandy riverbank beneath a large tree, with a low sun setting over the water at left. A minaret and a domed building rise in the distance above the greenery, all rendered in soft, warm tones. Eugène Fromentin painted this oil work in 1876, held by the Musée d'Orsay.
