About this work

This painting, titled Early Snow. In V. M. Vasnetsov's Garden by Apollinary Vasnetsov and dated 1920, shows a garden corner where trees still carry yellowed autumn foliage while a light layer of snow settles on branches, trunks and the ground. A brown wooden fence runs across the background, its top edge also dusted with snow. The loose, textured brushwork captures the contrast between the warm leaves and the cool white snow.
