About this work

A small oil sketch shows a dark gondola-like boat with a canopied cabin floating on calm water, with two figures in pink standing at either end. The loose, fluid brushwork renders a warm, hazy sky and reflections in the water. This painting by Félix Ziem is held by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon.
