About this work

An interior scene shows a bride in a white ruffled gown beside a groom in a dark coat with a blue collar, accompanied by a wedding party in a patterned-wallpapered room with a wooden floor. A seated elderly man in a tan coat and a clerk at a table with papers and a trunk occupy the left, while onlookers crowd near an open doorway to the street. This 1852 painting by Richard Caton Woodville, Sr. is held by the Walters Art Museum.
