About this work
A watercolor botanical study by Bertha Heiges from 1899 shows a whole Duchess Precoce pear with yellow-green skin blushed red, above a cut half revealing pale flesh, a core and dark seeds. The fruit is rendered on a plain cream background with a handwritten label naming the variety and its source.
