About this work
A watercolor study of a single Comice pear shown in three-quarter view, with a green-yellow body blushed with red on one side and a brown woody stem at the top. The fruit casts a soft shadow on a plain cream background, with the handwritten catalogue label in the lower left and the artist's signature and dates in the lower right. The work is attributed to Amanda Almira Newton and dated 1910 in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
