About this work
A single yellow grapefruit is painted against a plain cream background, with a small stem end at the top and several reddish-brown blemishes on its lower left surface. The shading is soft on the right side, showing the rounded form of the fruit. This watercolor, titled Grapefruits (Citrus paradisi), was made by J. Marion Shull in 1918 and is held in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
