About this work
A watercolor study of a single orange rendered in warm yellow and orange tones, with a large patch of brown discoloration and grey mold-like spots across its surface. The fruit is shown on a pale ground within a sheet bordered by a cream paper margin, with a small annotation and number visible at the edges. The work is catalogued as Oranges (Citrus sinensis) by J. Marion Shull, dated 1913, from the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
