About this work
A watercolor painting shows a halved pomelo or grapefruit, with pale yellow rind and pith surrounding pale golden segments radiating from a central core containing seeds. The fruit is rendered with soft shading and a faint cast shadow on a cream background, with handwritten labels noting the tree, location, and the title Marsh Seedless Pomelo. The work is attributed to Amanda Almira Newton and dated 1912 in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
