About this work
A watercolor study shows a single large orange citrus fruit with a bumpy, dimpled peel and a short green stem at the top, rendered against a pale background with a soft cast shadow. The handwritten inscriptions on the mount give the specimen number, the grower's name and address in Washington, D.C. and the artist's dates.
