About this work
A watercolor painting by Amanda Almira Newton, dated 1919, shows two specimens of the Owari orange (Citrus sinensis). The upper orange is bright and smooth with a visible stem end, while the lower one is greenish and mottled with brown spots and patches of yellow. Handwritten notes below the images record the origin in Silver Hill, Alabama and details of the curing and cleaning treatment.
