About this work
A watercolor botanical study shows a whole Valencia orange with a ridged, textured peel above a cross-section revealing its orange segments and pale central core. The work is a 1912 painting by Amanda Almira Newton, held in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection at the National Agricultural Library. Handwritten labels on the sheet identify the fruit variety and its origin in California.
