About this work
This watercolor on paper shows two Washington Navel oranges, one above the other, rendered with soft shadows beneath them. The upper fruit has dark brown blemishes and lesion-like spots across its rind, while the lower fruit has a smoother, finely pitted surface. Painted by Deborah Griscom Passmore in 1904, the work is held in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
