About this work
A watercolor on paper shows a whole orange with its stem end at top and, below it, a cross section revealing the segments and central pith. The handwritten label gives the cultivar name Thompson Improved, the locality Downey, Los Angeles Co. Calif. and the artist Deborah Griscom Passmore, dated 1895.
