About this work
A watercolor botanical study shows a cluster of dark purple grapes on a branching stem beside a single serrated green leaf, set against a plain cream background. The painting is the Lady James grape variety, painted by Amanda Almira Newton in 1905 for the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection. Handwritten inscriptions on the sheet record the specimen number and the grower's details.
