About this work
A watercolor of a single round peach with reddish-orange skin shaded toward a darker top, marked with irregular speckled brown spots and a small stem cavity. The fruit is centered on a cream paper ground with a faint pencil border, consistent with a pomological study. Hale (Prunus persica), painted by J. Marion Shull in 1921 for the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
