About this work
A watercolor botanical study shows a whole peach above a halved peach revealing its pale flesh, reddish skin edge, and deeply furrowed brown pit. A handwritten label beneath lists the variety name 'Sheppards Early', the grower George E. Murrell of Fontella, Bedford County, Virginia, and the artist's initials with the date 1900. The work is part of the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection held by the National Agricultural Library.
