About this work
A watercolor study of a single cluster of pale amber-green grapes, shaded with soft rose blush on the sun-facing sides and rendered with a cast shadow beneath. The cluster is set within a thin pencil-ruled rectangle on cream paper, with handwritten annotations of the inventory number, cultivar name and artist signature at the lower edge. Recorded as Ulliade Blanche d'Ambre (Vitis), painted by Ellen Isham Schutt in 1911 for the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
