About this work
A watercolor study on cream paper shows a whole red plum with its stem at the top and a cut plum below it, revealing orange flesh and a pale pit. The fruit is shaded with soft cast shadows, and handwritten labels at the bottom give the number 4730, the variety Plum (Whittaker), the grower C. G. Potter of Charles City, Iowa, and the artist's initials with dates in August and September 1908.
