About this work
A watercolor botanical study shows two views of an apple, one whole with a woody stem and one cut in half to reveal its brown seed cavity and pale yellow flesh with reddish tones near the core. The sheet carries handwritten notes with the location Forest Grove, Washington County, Oregon, and the date 1904, and the artwork is attributed to Bertha Heiges in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
