About this work
A watercolor study on cream paper shows a dark purple plum with its stem, paired with a cross-section revealing green flesh, an orange-tinged area near the pit, and a dark brown stone. The sheet carries handwritten notes naming the variety Coeur de Boeuf, a source in Carcassonne, France, and dates in September 1900. The work is attributed to Bertha Heiges and dated 1900 in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
