About this work
A watercolor by Deborah Griscom Passmore, dated 1897, shows a whole red plum above a cross-section revealing its yellow-green flesh and elongated pit. The sheet bears a handwritten label naming the variety "Orient" from H. S. Baek, Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co. Idaho, with an inventory number. The work is part of the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection held by the National Agricultural Library.
