About this work
A watercolor botanical study shows a whole reddish-purple plum with a small stem and speckled skin, beside a halved plum revealing yellow-green flesh and a central pit. The sheet carries a handwritten label reading "October Purple" from Luther Burbank, Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co. Cal. dated 9/2/98. The work is attributed to Deborah Griscom Passmore and dated 1898 in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
