About this work
A watercolor botanical study by Bertha Heiges, dated 1898, shows two plums: one whole with a dark purple-red skin and a curved stem, and one cut in half revealing yellow-green flesh around a reddish pit. Handwritten inscriptions on the sheet identify the variety as No. 1 Niagara, from George Eagley of North Springfield, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
