About this work
A pomological watercolor shows a whole dark red plum above a halved plum revealing its yellow-orange flesh and brown pit. Handwritten labels on the left list the cultivar name 'Burton' and a location in Vacaville, California, and the signature of Amanda Almira Newton is dated 1915 at lower right. The sheet is a scientific fruit study from the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
