About this work
A single dark purple-black fruit with a short green-tipped stem is painted in watercolor against a cream paper ground, shown in a pomological style. The handwritten inscriptions on the sheet give the variety name "Spinks", a grower attribution to J. B. Scott and M. A. Spinks of Duarte, California, and dates of 1917 signed by A. A. Newton.
