About this work
A watercolor study of a single dark, oval fruit with a small green stem at the top and speckled brownish dots across its skin, set on a cream sheet with a pencil border. The handwritten label identifies the variety as 'Challenge' from J. C. Walker, Los Angeles, California, and the artwork is credited to Amanda Almira Newton, dated 1916.
