About this work
A pomological watercolor shows two views of a mango, one whole with a green-yellow blushed skin and a stem at the top, and one halved to reveal bright orange-yellow flesh around a large fibrous seed. The plate is labeled as Plate XLII from the Yearbook of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 1908 and is attributed to A. A. Newton, with handwritten notes identifying the variety as Cecil Hickson Bros. Miami, Dade Co. Fla. and the name Emil Mango.
