About this work
A watercolor study shows a mango cut in half lengthwise, revealing bright orange flesh surrounding a fibrous, pale golden seed. The fruit is rendered with soft shading and a cast shadow on a cream background framed by a thin pencil border, with handwritten catalogue notes in the lower left and the artist's initials and dates at lower right. This is a pomological watercolor from the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection, painted by Mary Daisy Arnold in 1912.
