About this work
A watercolor on paper shows two views of a mango, an intact fruit with mottled yellow-green and orange skin and dark brown blush at the stem end, and a halved fruit revealing orange flesh and a fibrous central seed. Handwritten labels identify the variety as Alphonse and the date and place of the study. The work is attributed to Amanda Almira Newton and dated 1906, from the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
