About this work
A watercolor on cream paper shows a whole strawberry with green calyx and leaves above a cross-section of the same fruit, showing a pale pink and red interior. Handwritten inscriptions in the lower left give the variety name Chesapeake and a catalogue number, and a signature with the date 6.5.09 appears at lower right. This pomological watercolor by Deborah Griscom Passmore is dated 1909 and belongs to the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
