About this work

This watercolor depicts two apples, one shown from above and one from the side, each with a short stem and red and yellow striped skin cast with soft shadows on a cream paper ground. Handwritten inscriptions on the mount give the variety name, a location in Kent County, Delaware, and a date, with the artist's initials and a 1904 date.
